Welcome to the Classic Stitch Website
Classic Stitch is owned and operated by Joan Biggar and Sandra Horton.
Joan and Sandra knew each other, prior to forming a partnership, through work at a large department store and had become good friends.
Over the years, Joan has had a number of hobbies, from making moccasins and silk scarves to tole painting. In 2001, she discovered quilting, and has not looked back since.
Sandy was, and is still in the business of breeding and showing Great Pyrenees dogs.
Joan wanted to share her thrill for quilting with her co-workers, so offered to teach them how to quilt at her home. A number of co-workers showed up, but Sandra was the only one who got bit by the quilting bug. That was in February 2005, and she is now an avid quilter, and thoroughly hooked.
Joan and Sandra continue to have their weekly quilting get togethers. Both are active members of the Fraser Valley Quilters Guild, and both take classes regularly to learn and improve their craft.
They have traveled to a number of quilting shows and expositions, both in Canada and the United States .
One of the things they found in their travels and visits to various shows and quilt shops, was the lack of availability of really high quality thread, a must in quilting. Superior Brand thread provides the quality and variety they, like other quilters, are looking for.
To remedy this situation, they decided to start their own business, importing and selling Superior Brand threads, thus Classic Stitch was founded.
